Domestic Sexy
I recently had the opportunity to participate in a public relations conference call with Cedric “The Entertainer” and Niecy Nash co-stars of TV Land’s sit-com The Soul Man. They were promoting season two of their show which premieres Wednesday, June 19th. The show is TV Land’s newest original sit-com, created by Cedric “The Entertainer” and “Hot in Cleveland” creator Suzanne Martin. The show revolves around Cedric’s character, Reverend Boyce “The Voice” Ballentine, an R&B superstar-turned-minister who takes over as preacher of his father’s church. Niecy Nash (“Reno 911”) also stars as the reverend’s wife, Lolli. The character of Reverend Boyce originated on a second season episode of “Hot in Cleveland” which Cedric guest-starred.
During the conference call someone asked a question about a comment that Lolli, Niecy’s character made during the pilot episode about a man doing chores around the house. Lolli stated that when a man does chores, his woman finds this sexy and it causes her loins to tingle. This phenomenon was referred to as “domestic sexy”.
A couple of weeks ago, one of my cousins posted on Facebook that over the years he had purchased flowers, jewelry, and other gifts for his wife, but she was never more excited than when he refinished their wood floors. I informed him that her reaction to his refinishing the floors is called domestic sexy. I can personally testify to an occurrence of domestic sexy in my house. As a writer/stay-at-home mom that translates into CEO of the house, among other things, I am primarily responsible for most – usually ALL of the domestic household chores. I recall a time when my husband not only washed the towels but folded them, I was absolutely elated. I commenced to thanking him and shared how much I really appreciated him washing and folding the towels. This may seem like a menial task, but for a stay-at-home mom that is responsible for all of the household chores, when your spouse does any type of domestic chores it is greatly appreciated. And highly rewarded!
Why is this? Could be that any time a partner who works outside of the home pitches in to help around the house, those of us who do domestic chores on the regular know that it is a sacrifice of time that their partner has surrendered to help out perhaps on their day off and/or the week-end and for some reason this is hell-a-sexy. And yes, it causes the loins to tingle! So men, the next time you want to get on your wife’s good side, keep your coins in your pocket and start doing some chores around the house. You just may get rewarded in ways you didn’t think of and save a few dollars in the meantime.
